Screening Programs for
Southern Mutual Church Insurance Company Members
The Southern Mutual Church Insurance Company offers two packages for employee screening, and two for volunteers. The level of screening is a choice for the individual church, and other options available. For further information or to speak with an HR Expert click here.

Extensive Employee Screening Package
(for new employees, full-time and part-time)
Residence Trace
Checks previous use of SSN and addresses connected to the user. Checks 30 billion records from 300 databases.
Discovery
Name and DOB search, checks 136 million PLUS criminal records from approximately 42 states and sexual predator /violent offenders databases from all 50 states, DC, and Guam.
County Court
May return records of any cases where the subject name matches that of a court record. Identifiers such as (DOB) date of birth, social security number (SSN), address etc are usually obtained. Provides details of offenses, disposition and/or current status of case. A small number of counties charge record access fees billed at cost.
Driving History - State DMV Records
Provides the driving history for the subject searched. One of the most valuable inquiries since it will often show the level of responsibility and self discipline exhibited by the applicant. May also include DOB, SSN, description of subject etc. Driving License Number is required. Some states require a signed release on a special form.

Employment Verification
Contact is made with the named employer to verify the information given on the application form. Details are requested on dates employed, job position, and any other information related to the inquiry. A valid current telephone number must be provided. Three attempts are made to make contact with the employer.Additional fees for Directory Assistance charges billed at cost and database inquires billed at additional $8.25 per inquiry.
Education Verification
Verify that this subject received the degree or diploma that he/she claims and that it is issued by a valid institution and not Diploma Mill. There are at least 200 known diploma mills with new ones appearing daily.
Credit History (for employment purposes only)
May provide debt and payment history of applicant, tax liens and judgments, bankruptcy etc. May also indicate previous employment or residence. Note: A poor credit rating must not be assumed to be an indication of dishonesty.
A Credit Report Agreement must be received before reports can be ordered. (Credit Site Inspections that are required by the credit bureaus, are waived for non-profit religious organizations)
